A report of assessment is a piece of paper that offers a deeper understanding on a particular topic or issue. Assessment reports are usually created to give a comprehensive overview of the assessment process. However, they can also be used to discover areas of knowledge that are lacking or to identify training needs.
For example an assessment report may include an inventory of strengths and weaknesses identified by the SWOT (strengths and threats, weaknesses, opportunities and strengths) analysis. This information can be used to determine needed developmental actions for an employee. The assessment report will be communicated to the hierarchy of the employee to aid in planning.
Assessment reports can also be used to evaluate the success of a project or program. The evaluation can be carried out by a third party, like an academic institution or a professional organisation. The purpose of the evaluation is to assist stakeholders in making informed decisions and improve the effectiveness a program or a project.
An evaluation report includes an explanation of the program or project that is being evaluated along with its objectives and expected impact. It also includes a summary of findings and identifies obstacles and challenges and provides recommendations. The evaluation report must be objective and clearly state its conclusions and findings using graphs and tables of data when appropriate. It should also include limitations or cautions regarding the evaluation. This can be achieved by ensuring the evaluation is well-designed and executed, and by including results of an investigation into the literature. The report should be written clearly, concisely and clearly organized with headings and subheadings.
